About Us

Kelton Chilldcare & Afterschool is situated in a large Victorian house in the leafy suburb of Mossley Hill, near Sefton Park.  There is a large garden (1/3rd acre) so the children have plenty of space to play and explore outside.  Across the Nursery and Afterschool there is capacity for 184 children.

Kelton Nursery was established in the 1960s when a group of nuns created a childcare facility for unmarried mothers. As the years went by, the facility developed and began to offer support for children from all backgrounds. In 1986, the nuns discontinued their services and granted permission for the parents to take over the nursery and so, the Kelton Nursery Parent Association was formed. Twelve parents were elected  as part of a management committee, along with a manager and a deputy manager who were to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the nursery.

Today, Kelton Childcare & Afterschool continues to be operated by both a parent committee and a management team who all strive to provide the best childcare in a safe and happy environment.

Kelton is a registered charity (No.1107519) and a not-for-profit nursery.  All money from childcare fees are directed back into the setting, enabling us to provide high quality childcare and a wide range of experiences for the children.
